Applicant Portal to the Centralized Waitlist

 

  Welcome to the Community Housing - Applicant Portal. 

  This is where you can apply for the City of Brantford/Brant County affordable housing programs. 

  These programs are for households with low to moderate income. You do not have to be living in the City of   Brantford/Brant County to apply.

  Eligible applicants will be placed on a waiting list.  The average wait times for these programs will vary from one to many years depending on your household size and where you want to live.

 

  At last review, estimated wait times for Community Housing are:

  • Seniors aged 60 and older – between 3-5 years
  • Families with dependents – between 5-8 years
  • Non-senior applicants with no dependents – 8-12 years

 

  Step 1:  Check your eligibility:

  To qualify for affordable housing, you must be a Canadian citizen, or have made an application for permanent  residency or made a claim for refugee protection, and:

  • At least one household member is 16 years of age or older, and able to live independently
  • You must not owe rent, housing charge arrears or damages to another housing provider. If you owe arrears or damages, you must have a repayment schedule in place that is active and current
  • No member of your household has been convicted of an offence related to housing assistance
  • If you own a home, you must agree to sell it. (Homeowner Declaration Form 2022)
  • If you require support services, you may be eligible for a modified unit. You will need to pursue the support services you require to live independently
  • Your household income must be below a limit that shows your household could afford paying market rent

  Step 2: Register

  In order to complete an online application you will first need to create an online account.  You will need an active e-mail address to do this. Click on "Begin Online Application Now" below to register/create your online account.

  Do not register if you already have an online account.  To access your existing account click on "Update/Continue Existing Application" below.
